Australia, get ready to laugh until your ribs ache because the incomparable Dawn French is set to return to our shores!

The beloved British comedy queen will embark on her latest tour in 2024, promising a night of side-splitting humour and heartwarming anecdotes that will leave you in stitches with her one-woman stand-up show Dawn French is a Huge Twat, marking French’s first Australian shows since her 38 sold out shows in 2016.

“This show is so named because unfortunately, it’s horribly accurate,” French said.

“There have been far too many times I have made stupid mistakes or misunderstood something vital or jumped the gun in a spectacular display of twattery.

“I thought I might tell some of these buttock-clenching embarrassing stories to give Australian audiences a peek behind the scenes of my work life…Roll up! Book early to see the telly vicar lady be a total twat on stage, live in front of your very eyes. And ears.”

The news of French’s return to Australian soil has sent waves of excitement throughout the country.

“Well there’s my Birthday sorted!?” one fan wrote.

“Such an incredible show!! I loved every second of it!!! 100% worth the trip.”

“You will have a fantastic time dawn much loved as u are here,” commented another.

“It is a brilliant show, funny and poignant. I would recommend to all.”

French holds a special place in the hearts of Australians, having graced their stages most recently in 2016 with her first solo stand-up production, Thirty Million Minutes. This tour was an immense success, featuring a staggering 38 shows across the country due to the overwhelming demand from her devoted fans.

Few individuals are as firmly entrenched in the annals of British comedy as French. As one-half of the groundbreaking comedy duo French & Saunders alongside Jennifer Saunders, she blazed a trail that left a lasting mark on television comedy throughout the 1980s and 1990s. Together, they hilariously spoofed everything from Oasis to The Corrs and brilliantly parodied blockbuster films like Titanic and The Lord of the Rings series.

In the early 1990s, French and Saunders took separate but equally successful paths, each creating their own comedy legacy. While Jennifer Saunders gave the world Absolutely Fabulous, French took on multiple roles in the darkly comic Murder Most Horrid, often portraying both the perpetrator and victim in the same episode. This was followed by the immensely popular Richard Curtis series The Vicar of Dibley, which captivated over 12 million viewers during its series finale. French is also an accomplished author, boasting six best-selling books. Her latest literary endeavour, The Twat Files is scheduled for publication in October.

French’s success also extends to the stage, where she has excelled as both a stand-up comedian and an actress, and even to the silver screen, where she has appeared in diverse films ranging from Coraline to Death On The Nile.
