Singing sensation Sir Rod Stewart has kicked off 2023 with some good news after it was revealed that he is set to become a grandfather for the second time.
On Monday, January 2 Stewart’s daughter, Ruby, shared the good news to social media with a video of her gender reveal party in which Stewart was given the honour of making the announcement.
After opening up a piece of paper in front of the family, the 77-year-old pumped his fist in the air as he excitedly declared, “it’s a boy”.
Ruby took to Instagram once again, later in the day, to share an ultrasound video alongside a caption expressing her excitement.
“Out of all of the things that happened in 2022 you were by far the most beautiful…We can’t wait to meet you…Baby boy Kalick coming in April,” she wrote.

Stewart joined fellow friends and family, as well as fans, in congratulating Ruby and her partner Jake Kalick.
“So happy for the two of you,” Stewart wrote.
“Can’t wait to meet him,” Stewart’s wife Penny Lancaster wrote.
“Def has the Stewart nose,” Ruby’s half sister Kimberly Stewart said.
Ruby’s former step mum Rachel Hunter told Ruby that she was “going to be an incredible Mum”.
“So happy for you,” one fan wrote.
“Congratulations on this wonderful news.”
“Oh my goodness!! This is so sweet! Congratulations.”
Stewart will no doubt have plenty of time to spend with his second grandchild after he recently announced that he wants to retire from “rock ‘n’ roll touring”, revealing that he wants “to do something new”.
The 77-year-old made the bombshell revelation during a recent interview with the Daily Record where he announced that although he wants to move away from touring he is not planning on retiring entirely anytime soon.
“Next year will be the end of my rock ‘n’ roll touring. I want to do something different. It feels like an end of an era,” he said.
“All things must come to an end.
“I’m not retiring and I still love singing, I just want to do something new. I might do a few folk clubs playing guitar. Just be different.”
Stewart spoke candidly about how performing in the “big tours” had lost its appeal for the Maggie May hitmaker as it keeps him away from his children.
“I don’t want to do the big tours any more, especially in America. It takes me away from my kids for so long,” he said.
“It used to be OK because it was fun and games. It is still fun and games but I miss my kids so much.
“I’ve got one more year doing big gigs in South America, Australia, a Las Vegas residency, some more in England and a couple in Edinburgh.
“But I’m not retiring – I just want to move on.”
