Susan Boyle is one of the most iconic reality show contestants of all time, having wowed audiences around the world with her incredible singing voice when she appeared on Britain’s Got Talent back in 2009.

However, despite selling more than 25 million records worldwide, the Scottish native still lives in her family home in West Lothian and has remained largely out of the limelight.

Now though, the 58-year-old singing sensation has opened up about her dating life and revealed what happened the last time she spent time in the company of a potential male suitor.

“I haven’t got the time [to date],” she told OK! magazine. “It is still nice to be asked though.”

She added: “I had a date in America six years ago, which lasted exactly 45 minutes. I went for a massage in the spa of a hotel and met a doctor and then we went out for lunch. I didn’t tell anyone and my team thought I’d been kidnapped.

“They were really panicking because I had a show that night.”

However the transatlantic romance wasn’t to be as Susan admitted she “couldn’t be dealing with keeping up with the correspondence”. She added: “The guy was nice, but he wasn’t for me.”

Susan has never married and previously opened up to UK tabloid The Sun about the regret she feels over not having any children of her own. Last year the ‘I Dreamed a Dream’ singer revealed she would love to one day foster children and share her “lovely” home.

“When things quieten down a bit I would like to get into fostering,” she told the newspaper. “I’m 58 so I’ve got something to bring my family home to.  I’ve a lovely house, why not share it?

“I’ve got a couple who think the world of me. I love kids. I’ve never had any of my own, that’s my biggest regret, but I love kids. They’re good fun to be with.

“I am happy. I am loving every minute, loving life and bring on the rest.”
