Sir Mick Jagger has insisted there is “nothing good” about getting older.
The 82-year-old Rolling Stones frontman lamented the fact he has “forgotten” the wisdom he has dispensed over the years and he is much less capable physically than he used to be.
Asked what is good and bad about getting older on The New York Times’ podcast The Interview, he said: “There’s nothing good about it. Nothing. You don’t get wisdom. You forget everything. Forgot all my wisdom.
“I might have had a couple of pearls, but I’ve forgotten what they are.
“It’s not particularly pleasant and, of course, you can’t do things as quickly as you want to, and physically you can’t do things that you would like to do. You can still do them, but you have to be more careful.”
The Satisfaction hitmaker admitted his decades of fame have left him “disassociated” from the world around him because his life is no longer “normal”.
He said: “Obviously, it’s not normal.
“It is not like most people’s lives. It does affect you. You can become disassociated. From other people.
“A lot of people in show business only hang around with people in show business, because they’ve got something in common, they can relate to each other, and you get disassociated from what people might call ‘real life’.”
But Sir Mick does his best to keep his feet on the ground.
Asked what he does to stay grounded, he replied: “You go out and walk on the street on your own and do normal things.”
But even that, he admitted, only offers temporary relief.
He continued: “Nevertheless, that’s only temporary because psychologically your actual state of mind is permanently damaged.”
The veteran rocker isn’t interested in getting political during Rolling Stones concerts because he just wants fans to have a good time and forget the stresses and strains of everyday life.
He explained:”The bottom line is that my job in the live music world is to ensure]people that come have the best time they possibly can, and for two hours forget all their problems and the problems of the world.
“Their mortgages and whatever. Just so they can have the best time.
“Your job is to make them go more apeshit. You don’t want to lecture them.”

Sure, there's not a lot good about getting older, but it's definitely better than the alternative.
Yes Glenda, my wife says it is a privilege to get old. She’s an ovarian cancer survivor. Up to now!
How do you know what the alternative is !!!
I reckon the grey hair and wrinkles have been earned . You can sit back in the sun and reflect on how good your life has been. Being positive helps. My friend fell in her garden and said while I was down there I did a bit of weeding. Thats being positive.
Love your friend!
Getting old is good..... it means we are still with our loved ones.
Angela P has hit the mark. I may not be able to do all the things I used to, but I do have my beautiful family. My daughter and I love doing jigsaw puzzles together and I read a lot. Keeping the mind busy keeps the blues away.
That's if you have loved ones ?
My body and mind have been in steady decline since my late thirties. My mind has been helped by counselling and medication. My body has been challenging. I first got migraines when I went back to work after having my fourth child at forty. Pre menopause and menopause were extremely uncomfortable and trying. I've had back problems for 28 years. There are other pains and strains too. I am 69. I've had falls. I wear a pendant just in case. My memory gets more and more elusive. I don't want to go anywhere. Mostly because the stairs are risky for me. All 16 of them.
I feel for you Zelda!!! I am 74 years of age and have moderate osteoarthritis in both knees! Walking for me is difficult and uncomfortable! You have far more issues than ME personally...but even so...I would 100% agree with Mick Jagger: "Getting OLD totally SUCKS!!!"
I 100% agree with you Mick: "Getting OLD totally SUCKS!!!"
Think positive you lot
