Like many people, Melania Trump was forced to celebrate her birthday at home due to the ongoing spread of coronavirus. The First Lady, who turned 50 on Sunday, celebrated her birthday with family at the White House, her chief of staff, Stephanie Grisham, told Fox Business.

The former model received happy birthday greetings from a number of well-wishers yesterday, including her famous husband, President Trump. Trump tweeted a short-but-sweet Happy Birthday message to his wife, writing: “Happy Birthday to Melania, our great First Lady!”

White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany also tweeted birthday greetings, writing: “Happy Birthday to @FLOTUS — America is so blessed to have you as our First Lady!”

Karen Pence, wife of Vice President Mike Pence, also tweeted: “Wishing you a very special birthday, @FLOTUS. Happy Birthday!” Meanwhile, Melania’s step-daughter Ivanka Trump tweeted birthday greetings alongside a sweet image of her father and Melania. “Happy Birthday @FLOTUS Melania,” she wrote.

Many other social media users also wished the first lady a happy birthday, with one writing: “Best FLOTUS ever. Happy birthday Melania Trump!” Another added: “Happy Birthday to the best First Lady ever!!” While a third wrote: “She has done so much for our country and millions of Americas are proud to call her our First Lady! Happy Birthday @FLOTUS.”

Melania was born on April 26, 1970, in Slovenia and moved to the US in 1996 to pursue her modelling career. The first lady married businessman Trump in 2005, and their son Barron was born the following year.

Despite being in lockdown, the first lady has kept busy in the last few weeks. Earlier this month, Melania sent care packages of blankets, books and games to staff and kids at hospitals in 10 states. She said that the items were “just a small token of my appreciation for their courage and leadership in this time.”

Meanwhile, last Friday she wrote on Twitter: “Our thoughts & prayers continue to be w/ each person suffering & fighting to recover from this terrible virus, & with all of the families who have lost loved ones. Even though we are physically apart, we are all in this fight together.”
