It’s been two-and-a-half months since the passing of Lisa Curry’s eldest daughter Jaimi Kenny, who she shared with ex-husband and former Ironman Grant Kenny. Since then, the former Olympian has been busy keeping her memory alive, and on Tuesday Lisa shared the heartwarming way in which she is paying tribute to her late daughter, who passed away from an undisclosed long-term illness at the age of 33 on Monday, September 14.

Taking to Instagram earlier this week, Lisa told her more than 96,000 followers that she has decided to build a beautiful garden for Jaimi.

“Jaimi loved her flowers,” she wrote alongside a picture of herself smiling while planting flowers. “It has four garden beds around it, one for each season … so there’ll always be flowers. My talented hubby is great with a hammer @mark66andrew. Thank you.”

Fans of Lisa’s loved the tribute, with one writing, “What a beautiful idea.” Another commented, “A beautiful tribute to [Jaimi].” While another said, “Every season you will have a warming smile for your blooms.”

The sweet post comes just a month after the sporting icon opened up about the grief she’s feeling following the tragic death of Jaimi. Lisa took to Instagram in early November and revealed how she’s coping with the loss, admitting she’s “feeling empty” and can’t help but wonder whether there was anything more she could have done to help her first-born child.

“I miss my baby girl … it’s so quiet without her,” Lisa wrote. “Each day seems a bit of a blur but I get through it… feeling empty… it’s hard to even think… my mind consumed as to what else I could have done to help… My beautiful Jaimi.”

At the time, many of Lisa’s followers urged the Olympian to be kind to herself and thanked her for being so open with her feelings and emotions. One wrote, “Love that you’re able to express your thoughts of your baby girl. She’s part of you and will always be alive within you. Wish there was a way to make you feel better.”

Another commented, “I think it’s natural to go through the ‘what else could I have done’ as a loving parent. Sadly people have their own journeys and are ultimately in control – even when we can see that the path is not good. The parts you could do, you would have done; you are a mum, that’s what us mums do. Surrender and understand that bit.”

While another wrote, “Keep reaching out. Time will carve the space to carry this.”
