Lisa Curry has opened up on the grief she feels following the tragic death of eldest daughter Jaimi Kenny in September. The sporting icon has openly discussed her pain on social media, sharing heartfelt tributes to her late “baby girl”.

On Monday, Lisa took to Instagram and revealed how she is coping with the loss, admitting she is “feeling empty” and can’t help but wonder whether there was anything more she could have done to help her first-born.

“I miss my baby girl… it’s so quiet without her,” Lisa wrote. “Each day seems a bit of a blurr [sic] but I get through it … feeling empty.. it’s hard to even think.. my mind consumed as to what else I could have done to help… My beautiful Jaimi.”

Many of Lisa’s followers urged the Olympian to be kind to herself and thanked her for being so open with her feelings and emotions. One wrote: “Love that you’re able to express your thoughts of your baby girl. She’s part of you and will always be alive within you. Wish there was a way to make you feel better.”

Another commented: “I think it’s natural to go through the ‘what else could I have done’ as a loving parent. Sadly people have their own journeys and are ultimately in control – even when we can see that the path is not good. The parts you could do – you would have done – you are a Mum – that’s what us Mums do. Surrender and understand that bit .”

While another wrote: “Keep reaching out. Time will carve the space to carry this.”

Lisa Curry confirmed her “beautiful and kind” daughter’s death in a moving tribute posted to Instagram in September. The 33-year-old passed away in hospital following a battle with a long-term illness.

“Our beautiful daughter Jaimi has lost her battle with a long-term illness and passed away peacefully in hospital yesterday morning with her loving family by her side,” she wrote. “So loved. So beautiful. So kind to everyone. So painful. I can barely breathe.”

Lisa, 58, who shares three children with ex-husband Grant Kenny, penned the gut-wrenching post just one day after Jaimi’s death and described her first-born child as a “caring, bright and loving soul who always put others before herself”.

“Her love of flowers, cooking, art, decorating, photography, babies, the beach, and helping others will always be remembered,” she added. “Our hearts are broken and the pain is unbearable but we cherish every wonderful moment we got to share with our treasured and so loved first child.”
