Making extra money doesn't have to be a headache.

If you’ve already retired or about to retire, you’ve probably got money on your mind.

Perhaps you’re stressed you don’t have enough superannuation to see you through or maybe you’re wondering how you’ll cope once a steady income is no longer coming in.

If you’re thinking about getting a job at McDonald’s or becoming a part-time nanny, forget about it.

A new initiative has seen 44 per cent of over 55-year-olds enjoy a significant income boost that’s helping see them through to retirement.

The Sharing Hub is a platform for people who are looking to supplement their income by connecting entrepreneurs with willing employees to help run their businesses.

Some over 60s have been able to pocket $30,000 annually through the platform by pet-sitting, becoming a courier and even renting out spare space.

The most popular sharing economy platforms so far have been the following:

Spacer is Australia’s marketplace for storage and parking, that connects neighbours who have spare space with locals who need more space. This simple storage solution can help you earn up to $6,000 a year by renting out your spare garage, attic, spare room and more.

Cute job alert! Mad Paws is Australia’s No. 1 go-to pet sitting community online, where pet owners can find trusted pet sitters near their homes. You can make up to $1,000 per month pet sitting and by walking locals pets.

If you who have a bit of spare time and have a car out front, Zoom2u is an on-demand courier marketplace. As a courier you’ll have complete flexibility as to when, and how much, you want to work, it’s just a matter of accepting the workplace that’s right for you. You can make up to $4,000 a month through Zoom2u.

Described as the “Airbnb for Caravans” Camplify is Australia’s largest RV sharing community connecting owners of caravans, campervans, motorhomes and camper trailers with holidaymakers to help more people experience the joys of camping. You could earn up to $24,000 per year through Camplify.

Love cooking? You could make up to $3,000 a month selling your food through FoodByUs, which is an online marketplace where Australians can buy quality homemade food from approved local makers at home.
