Looking for a DIY solution for cleaning grout? A clever mum sent the Internet into a frenzy recently after she revealed her secret hack for cleaning grout on tiled floors.

Australian woman Rebekka Ladner shared her handy tip to the ‘Mums Who Cook, Clean and Organise’ Facebook group where it got the big thumbs up from fellow parents. The mum explained she uses $12 Vanish Napisan Gold Pro Stain Remover Powder to clean the grout on tiled floors.

“Not sure if this has been shared yet but with all the posts regarding long life grout cleaner while affective the fumes are so very harsh… these are results I got using Napisan Gold at a client’s house,” she wrote.

To clean the floor, Rebekka said she poured two scoops of the popular washing powder into a bucket of water and spread it over the tiles before scrubbing. Rebekka said she then rinsed the titles and mopped again with water and methylated spirits.

“It’s like regular mopping water,” she wrote in the comments section about the addition of Napisan Gold. “I mix it in and then without wringing the mop out I mop over the area I’m doing until it’s nice and covered and leave for a bit.”

She continued: “Bunnings sell two grout brooms, one is $10 and the other is in the $20 [range] I think. Just be careful as obviously the floors are extremely slippery when mopping.”

The group’s other followers praise the mum for her simple hack, with one person commenting: “Wow I am going to have to try this!” While another added: “Thank you for sharing. Awesome job.” Meanwhile, one mum said she tried the trick out for herself, proving the cleaning hack really does work.

It’s not the first time a cleaning hack has gone viral. Earlier this year a woman made headlines after she revealed her simple hack for cleaning her shower cubicle. Taking to the ‘Mums Who Clean’ Facebook group, the woman explained she uses Kmart’s $2 Exfoliating Gloves to make her shower glass sparkle.

“You spray or wipe down your shower with whatever cleaning products you use (I personally like to use Jif), let it sit for five minutes and then scrub with these bad boys!” she wrote. “I tried it once and never turned back.”
