Muesli doesn’t have to be a means to an end — like any dish, it can be a delightful meal for a healthy and energising breakfast, and can even be a great treat for friends, family and the grandkids! This recipe has all the sugary goodness of our favourite cereals and the healthy additions needed to balance it out for a well-rounded and delectable bowl.

Ingredients

  • 400g rolled oats
  • 125g unsalted sunflower seeds
  • 2tbsp sesame seeds
  • 125g slivered almonds
  • 120g shredded coconut
  • 250ml maple syrup
  • 4 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 40g each dried fruit (we recommend cranberries, dried apricots and dried mango)

Method

  1. Heat your oven to 150 degrees Celsius.
  2. Mix your dry ingredients together.
  3. Heat the maple syrup and the oil.
  4. Pour the oil and maple syrup mixture over the dry ingredients and ensure they’re all covered.
  5. Spread thinly over two baking trays lined with baking paper.
  6. Bake for 30 mins.
  7. Stir occasionally.
  8. Transfer to an airtight container and add chopped dried fruits.
