This is a great recipe for when you’ve got a hankering for something sweet. You can make this chocolate mug cake in the microwave in about 5 minutes.

Serves 2 (if you’re into sharing).

Ingredients

• 4 tbsp self-raising flour
• 4 tbsp caster sugar
• 2 tbsp cocoa powder, plus extra for dusting
• 1 egg
• 3 tbsp full cream milk
• 3 tbsp sunflower oil
• 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
• 40g dark chocolate, roughly chopped
• Pinch sea salt flakes

Method

1. Measure self-raising flour, caster sugar and cocoa powder into a large mug, and mix. Crack in the egg, pour in the milk, oil and vanilla extract and whisk with a fork until no lumps of flour remain and you have a smooth cake batter.
2. Add the dark chocolate and mix briefly again, then the top with sea salt flakes. Put into the middle of your microwave oven and cook on high for 1 1/2-2 minutes or until firm to the touch.
3. Dust with a little cocoa powder to serve.
