Bite-sized chocolate parcels for a sweet afternoon treat

Whether you’ve had a savoury meal and need something sweet to balance it out, or you’re craving a decadent dessert for an afternoon tea, these exquisite chocolate parcels are perfect for all occasions. Follow this recipe for 8 dreamy chocolate parcels — to be shared amongst your friends and family, or for a reward all for yourself!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup ground hazelnuts
  • 3 tablespoons hazelnut-flavoured (or almond-flavoured) liqueur
  • 75 grams grated bittersweet chocolate
  • 2 tablespoons confectioners’ sugar
  • 2 thawed frozen filo sheets
  • 3 tablespoons warmed honey

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 190 degrees Celsius.
  2. Lightly butter a baking sheet.
  3. Mix hazelnuts, liqueur, chocolate and confectioners’ sugar together.
  4. Cut out twenty-four 9 centimetre squares from the filo.
  5. Place a teaspoon of the chocolate mixture in the middle of each square.
  6. Brush a little water around the edge of the filo squares, gather the sides around the filling and pinch in to form a purse-like shape.
  7. Place pastries on baking sheet and bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until golden.
  8. Brush with honey and cool for 5 minutes.
  9. Sift confectioners’ sugar over pastries and serve warm or cooled.
