The most radio-played song of the 20th century

Share:

This song was recorded in 1964, however it made it to number one on the Billboard charts in February of 1965.

It was considered too long for standard radio play and critics initially believed it wouldn’t have on-air success as a result of the length. This two-man band defied this when Broadcast Music Inc. declared this the most radio-played song of the 20th century in 1999. It is believed that the song has been played over eight million times.

The song has been covered over 80 times since it’s release proving it’s longevity as one of the greatest songs of all times.
