This popular song has been covered numerous times by big hit names. In 1995 Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer released another version which reached number three on the UK singles charts.
In 2001 the song was covered by actor/singer, Eddie Murphy and the band Smashmouth for the incredibly successful soundtrack to the movie “Shrek” and in 2010 Neil Diamond recorded a slower, stripped down version of the song too.
