The new trailer for the Mamma Mia movie sequel has finally been released, nine years after the first film hit our screens.

And from Cher making a cameo as the Grandma, to brand new music and an all-star line-up, the short clip is packed full of amazing footage and plot twists, sparking a social media frenzy in just a few short minutes.

Fans have shared their shock however, as the trailer for ‘Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again’ appears to hint Meryl Streep’s Donna character could be killed off.

While the award-winning actress barely features in the trailer, her daughter Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) does – and this time she’s pregnant.

As flashback images of Donna appear on screen, Julie Walters’ character tells Sophie: “Your mother was the bravest person we ever met.”

While there’s heavy focus on the next stage of Sophie’s life, the film focuses more on the backstory of Streep’s character – with actress Lily James playing a younger Donna.

The story begins with Sophie calling on her mother’s best friends Rosie and Tanya (played again by Walters and Christine Baranski), who recall what her mother was like while she was pregnant.

James is joined by Alexa Davies as young Rosie and Jessica Keenan Wynn as young Tanya, as they portray the three close pals at a younger age.

Pierce Brosnan, Stellan Skarsgard, and Colin Firth reprise their roles as Sophie’s three possible dads: Sam, Bill, and Harry.

And of course they’re portrayed at a younger age too, as they attempted to win Donna’s heart.

Jeremy Irvine plays young Sam, Josh Dylan is young Bill, and Hugh Skinner is a younger Harry.

Elsewhere Cher, 71, makes a cameo as Sophie’s very glamorous grandmother – and arrives by helicopter in a very Cher-like grand entrance.

Fans have shared their happiness at the new trailer online – but many people have questioned if Donna will appear in the new movie.

One Twitter user wrote: “If donna is dead in mamma mia 2 then 2018 is cancelled.”

While another added: “When u wait 10 years for a Mamma Mia sequel but then they kill off Donna Sheridan.”

And one wrote: “Mamma mia here we go again more like mamma mia we ain’t going anywhere without donna.”
