Debuting on the big screen in 2006, Daniel Craig uttered the words “Bond … James Bond” and joined an esteemed legacy of Bond actors.
The latest Bond film, No Time to Die has an 18-month delayed release date, due to the coronavirus pandemic, and is set to be in Australian cinemas by November 11, 2021. The 25th film in the popular franchise has been hit with a deluge of postponements, which has built the anticipation of the film to fever pitch.
Bond fans will be thrilled by the action scenes, the lavish backdrops, the suave script and all the ingredients that come with the Bond film experience.
According to the official 007 website, the story follows Bond leading a quiet life enjoying retirement in Jamaica when he is called upon by the CIA to help recover a kidnapped scientist. What ensues is an action packed, globe trotting adventure and the release of a new technology with the ability to cause some serious damage.
This will be the last time that Craig will play the iconic role after 15 years of martini swigging swagger. He almost didn’t return to the role but explained in an interview with Games Radar, he was enticed by the opportunity to explore the character of Bond on a deeper level.
“It’s interesting to explore his emotions, because he’s a cut-off character. He doesn’t feel like other people, because he’s a killer,” he said.
If the wait til November 11 is far too long to scratch your 007 itch, Apple TV will be releasing a documentary called Being James Bond on September 7. The documentary will include never before seen footage from each of the five films that Craig has played the beloved character, interviews with producers, and hopefully some sneak peeks of the new movie. The 45 minute special will be screening on Apple TV, free for subscribers.
The delayed release date for Australia is to ensure audiences can experience the movie in the cinematic glory it deserves. There’s no other way to enjoy all the car chases, explosions, jumping off buildings and speeding motorbikes than to experience them on a big screen in surround sound. The new movie will not disappoint the thrill seekers and will be worth the wait.
