Cool new trick helps you find and contact your phone anywhere

It can be really worrying when you lose your phone – not everyone can remember where they left it or has a special app to guide them to its location.

But this handy feature on Android phones (i.e. non-Apple or Windows) will help you find it straight away without any fuss.

According to the Google support website, you can use Android Device Manager to find your phone’s approximate location on a map and when it was last used. When Android Device Manager locates your device, that device will get a notification.

Before you can use Android Device Manager to locate your device: Your device’s location access need to be turned on and be signed in to your Google Account. Android Device Manager won’t work for devices that are turned off or that don’t have a mobile data or Wi-Fi connection.

Tip: If you’ve linked your phone to Google, you can locate or ring it by searching for ‘find my phone’ on www.google.com.

Locate a lost device using Android Device Manager

Use the Android Device Manager website

• Sign in to your Google Account on android.com/devicemanager.
• If you have more than one device, click the arrow next to the device name to select a different device.

Android Device Manager will show you the approximate location of the device selected.

Use the Android Device Manager app

If you have another mobile device, you can use the Android Device Manager app to locate your lost device. You need to have the Android Device Manager app installed on the device that you plan to use.

• On the device that you have with you, open the Android Device Manager app.
• Sign in to your Google Account.
• Swipe along the bottom of the screen to see your devices.

Android Device Manager will show you the approximate location of the device selected.

Once you locate your device, you can remotely ring, lock, or erase it using Android Device Manager.
