Australian politics: It’s time for a change

Feb 26, 2017

I very seriously think we are in for some momentous changes in Australian politics, and quite soon too! The Liberals/Nationals and Labor have recently made such a pig’s ear of running this Country, that even the most ardent follower of either party must be completely fed up with them and be hungry for change by now. And there’s a whole new team waiting on the sidelines to step right in and take over from them; a team that seems much more honest, in touch with the way the public feel and perfectly willing to call it the way it is!

The people of Australia are understandably disgusted with the way the great majority of politicians, instead of looking at ways to make things better for us all, have their noses in the trough, (a trough provided by us), giving them living conditions that are the envy of everyone in the country, whatever their political parties. They get free flights, massive pensions, and increments in their salaries when the rest of us are tightening our belts, isn’t it strange too, the way party differences completely disappear where money in the pocket is concerned?

And for all the money they screw out of us, what do we get in return? Very little! Day after day we watch the parties in Parliament boorishly bickering at each other, hurling insult and displaying a total lack of debating skill. There was a time when politicians were still experts at throwing ‘barbs’ at each other, so cleverly done that it could take a second look to realise there was an insult hidden in there at all!

Point scoring seems much more important to today’s idiots than trying to put right the very genuine problems this country has, but even when they do try, they seem to get things wrong more often than right! Where is our democratic process working, when a minority group, can be against something – anything – and the rest of us have to suffer in case there is hurt or inconvenience caused? And why are other countries laws allowed to take preference over our own?

The most recent few governments, either from the left or the right, are hell bent on giving billions of our dollars to other countries, countries that make no secret of the fact that they either hate us or at the very least despise us. Why is this so, when there are so many people in this country whose needs are much more urgent than the requirements of these foreigners; pensioners trying to live on a pittance, school kids with insufficient educational material, sick people waiting months for urgent surgery, roads that should have been repaired and upgraded years ago and jobs being killed willie-nillie simply because it’s a little cheaper to get things done overseas, leaving many Australians without work!

The major parties must be well aware of the situation, and the fact that Pauline Hanson and a few others are suddenly breaking through the ‘glass ceiling’, makes them very frightened. So they lash out, trying to discredit these new people and warning us of the dangers of voting for them. But I think they have left it much too late; the situation really can’t be corrected without a major change to both the way we are governed and the characters of the people we need to do it. We need commitment, we need strength, and we need the truth about how things are, good or bad. We get none of that from the lot in charge at the moment; it’s time to give the newcomers a go, the old school is just about dead on its feet!
