A great gift

Mar 27, 2017
This morning I received a gift. It was unexpected and really for no other reason than someone was being nice to me.  It got me thinking.  How much do little gestures mean to a person??

To me they are everything. Last week I was invited to Spiegletent. It’s sort of like Circ de Soliel. I loved it and would recommend it to anyone who gets a chance to see it.  It was a lovely gesture from a friend who knew my budget doesn’t allow for those little luxuries so when she came into possession of a spare ticket, she thought of me.

Many times a fellow member of SAS drops in for a visit. I always have biscuits or the like, but she never fails to bring a treat.  How nice. A little gesture that means so much.

I was in Woolworths one day when a lady had to put the grapes she had in her basket, back on the shelf and replace with veggies. When I asked her “Were the grapes no good?” She said she couldn’t afford both. I got the grapes and left them at the front for her. It was only $3.00. I waited till she came to the checkout and made sure she was given the grapes. She hugged the employee, and it was so nice to see the difference a bunch of grapes made to her.

So a little gesture certainly can cause a lot of pleasure.  In a world that seems to be going too fast for its own good sometimes, causing grief and sadness for so many, a small gesture once in awhile might be all it takes to put a smile on someone’s face, warmth in someone’s heart. I am lucky to have people around me that look out for me, that care enough.  I only hope that I can do the same for them. Whether it’s a kind word, holding a door open or even a bunch of grapes, a small gesture of kindness or consideration goes a long way. I thank the people in my life who do this for me and hope you all know how grateful I am that you ARE in my life.
