Nicole’s outrageous ‘punk ballerina’ look may be her best one EVER

The Cannes Film Festival is one big catwalk, with star after star debuting stunning looks in front of the adoring lenses of the world’s paparazzi.

But Aussie actress Nicole Kidman has brought her A-game this year, just unveiling what may be her best outfit ever. And then, if that wasn’t enough, she pulled out yet another fantastic dress for a second event.

Kidman has four movies premiering at the French festival, including The Killing of  Sacred Deer and How to Talk to Girls at Parties. She told media outlooks that the secret to her on-screen success was that she tried to act like she was 21 when making role choices.

“I’m trying to stay bold and open and try things and support filmmakers that I believe in,” she said. Her appearance was following rave reviews for her performance in HBO series Big Little Lies, as the abused housewife Celeste Wright.

But all eyes were on her clothes, not her films, when Kidman was on the red carpet overnight. The actress looked like a punk ballerina in an amazing tulle-skirted dress with a structured black bodice. She set off the retro-meets-new age look with a pair of aggressive-looking patent black heels, and some stunning diamond rings.

Her hair was poker straight and sleek so that it didn’t overwhelm the eye-catching outfit.

Kidman wasn’t shy of putting on an amorous display with husband, singer Keith Urban, for the cameras either. The couple looked lovingly at each other, embraced and even managed a little neck kissing action in on the red carpet.

Although Urban was there for the premiere of The Killing of a Sacred Deer, a thriller that reportedly features some graphic violence, Kidman told the media that her young daughters wouldn’t be seeing the very adult movie she made with Irish actor Colin Farrell.

“Occasionally, I’ll do something for them where they can come on set. I did Paddington, but they have very little understanding of what my husband and I do,” she said.

In another appearance, Kidman donned a embellished Dior Couture dress in earth tones, again with a full skirt and tight bodice, but with her almost-platinum locks in a looser, flowing style.

The glamorous looks followed a great fashion day for Kidman yesterday, on which she wore a show-stopping sequined dress with ruffles and a plunging neckline, her hair up in a messy, old-fashioned knot, for the How to Talk to Girls at Parties premiere.
