Woolworths recalls food item for fear of allergy or anaphylaxis

Woolworth is urging customers who are allergic to dairy to look at their latest purchase and check for this item – Sweet William Dairy Free Original Chocolate 100g.

Consumers who have a dairy allergy or intolerance should not consume this product and should return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund as presence of an undeclared allergen (dairy) has been detected.

For those who are dairy intolerant, an allergic reaction usually occurs minutes to hours after consuming milk.

Signs and symptoms of milk allergy range from mild to severe and can include wheezing, vomiting, hives and digestive problems. Sometimes, milk allergy can cause anaphylaxis — a severe, life-threatening reaction. Consumers with this condition are advised to be extra cautious.
