What moved Huge Jackman and Patrick Stewart to tears?

It would be hard not to get emotional when you decide to stop playing a character that you have been playing for almost two decades.

The role that made Huge Jackman a star, the superhero Wolverine, has come to an end at least with Jackman in the part.  Logan is the ninth time that Jackman has played the character on screen.  A lot has happened to both the character and Jackmen since he first played the role in 2000’s X-Men. Joining him in the journey has been Sir Patrick Stewart who has played the mentor character to Jackman’s Wolverine in many of the same films.  Logan marks the last time that Stewart will play the role of Professor Charles Xavier.

At a screening of the film in Berline, Stewart told ABC’s Lateline, “At one point just a few moments before it ended, Hugh reached over and took my hand and then I saw his hand go up to his face and I realised I needed to do the same thing.

“You know, here’s these two strapping actors, grown men, and we were sitting shedding a tear at our own movie.

“Then they ran the credits. During that time the realisation came to me that there could be no more perfect way to say goodbye to Charles Xavier than what I had just watched.”

The one thing that Jackman will not miss about playing the role is the hard workouts it took to be in superhero shape.  He said, “I’m in a lot better shape than I would be at age 45 if I hadn’t done these films, that’s for sure”.  He added, “I’ve got a few little niggles there, a shoulder thing and I was very tired on this film, I have to admit.

“It was a gruelling shoot, but we embraced it. I kind of wanted it to be. When you know, it’s your last game of footy you leave it all out there on the field.”

While it might not the everyone’s type of movie, there is no doubt a lot of love and respect for both of these amazing actors.
