What?! Imagine if your former employer did this to you after retirement?

75-year-old Elaine Gray recently received a letter from her employer of 20 years, but it wasn’t to celebrate her retirement. Instead, Elaine was told she had been overpaid… by a whopping total of $12.54.

Cleaning and catering company Spotless went as far to invoice Elaine for this laughable amount. Debt collectors were even called to ensure that Elaine repaid $12.54, which shows how little her loyalty as an employee was valued.

“I thought it was pretty lousy to go to all this work for a lousy $12, considering all the years and all the hours I had worked an hour or half an hour over and never put it down”, Elaine explained.

Spotless has previously warned its investors about a profit plunge. Elaine is not the only ex-employee to be contacted about overpayments, and it appears that Spotless is trying to recoup some of its supposed losses.

However, spunky Elaine has hit back at Spotless, claiming she had in fact been underpaid throughout her 20 year employment. Elaine claims Spotless owes her over $600, due to unpaid public holiday rates.

“It would have cost them more to send out the $12 bill. It’s silly”, said Elaine. We are glad this tough 75-year-old won’t be pushed around!

Can you believe how little Elaine’s loyalty has been valued? How would you react in her situation?
