Battle lines have been drawn between two unlikely opponents: mums versus daughters.
In one corner, baby boomer mums living their lives have been deemed “selfish” and “entitled to relax” by their self-described time-poor working daughters.
In the other corner, middle-aged daughters desperate for support are complaining their mothers don’t make enough effort to spend time with, care for and essentially rear their offspring.
Torn apart by differing circumstances, the two generations have never been more at war with both sides taking no prisoners.
The Daily Mail has reported there’s no ceasefire in sight among retired mothers and their adult daughters.
Interviewing a number of mothers and daughters raging against each other, it was revealed the ongoing war between the two is not uncommon.
Many of the grown daughters interviewed complained about the lack of support when it came to raising their own children.
Two of the adult daughters said after life altering events including a marriage break-up and the birth of children, they were annoyed and disappointed when their mothers chose to move away.
The daughters also said their mothers didn’t “understand” how much more difficult life was now and resented the struggle while their mothers seemingly lived on easy street with “massive” pensions and no mortgage.
However, the “selfish” grannies have cited reasons like ill health, caring for sick relatives and tiredness from old age as to why they’ve been unable to visit or assist their grown daughters.
