Three “black eyes” for Trump’s first day as President

While today was historic in some way for the United States, it can also be viewed as a bit of an embarrassment.  Donald Trump is taking office with the lowest approval rating for an incoming President since the 1940s. As well as his inauguration only bringing a third of the audience that President Obama did in 2009.

The celebrations were marred with protest, but the New York Times posted a picture showing area shots of both men’s inauguration at the 45-minute mark.  When Obama took office, 1.8 million people turned out to see his inauguration.  Current estimates for President Trump is just about 600,000 people.

Those that attended heard President Trump heard him say that there would be some big changes in American under his government.  He has followed through with this promise as he already has issued an order to government agencies that the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, is to be scaled back immediately.  The act which gives over 20 million people health care was part of Obama’s legacy as President, and it seems target number one for the Republicans as they take charge of the government.

The order also stated that until a replacement plan can be made or a final decision on it, that “it is imperative for the executive branch to ensure that the law is being efficiently implemented, take all actions consistent with law to minimize the unwarranted economic and regulatory burdens of the act, and prepare to afford the states more flexibility and control to create a more free and open health care market.”

Time can only tell what kind of President he will be but the 20 million that are set to lose their health coverage and an estimated 8-10 million of them voted for Trump it will be a waiting game to see how this affects his first 100 days.
