A new ad for a Danish television station is doing the rounds and while it’s bringing a tear to the eye of some, not everyone is happy.
The emotional ad sees around 80 people pulled into a big room and divided up into groups with their friends. They’re distinguished as “The High Earners” and “Those Just Getting By”; “Those We Trust” and “Those We Try To Avoid”.
Standing apart, they all look different and as though they would have absolutely nothing in common with each other.
A man with a clipboard then starts asking them questions, like “Who are stepparents?”, “Who is in love?” and “Who in this room was the class clown?”.
The people start to peel off from their original groups and form new ones based on the things they have in common; the things they never would have thought a total stranger from somewhere else could relate to.
The powerful message is meant to show us how similar we all really are and drive home the point that many of us have more in common with each other than we’d think.
It’s being hailed as one of the most poignant videos out there right now, especially following the extraordinary move on immigration by US president Donald Trump last week.
While many are calling it beautiful and touching others have branded it “Liberal bull” and say multiculturalism around the world as failed.
Take a look and tell us what you think and how it makes you feel.
