Serena Williams encourages Duchess Kate to make her Snapchat debut

It’s a new, tech-friendly era for the British royal family; first, Queen Elizabeth II took to Twitter to personally send a very gracious tweet to her subjects and now Kate Middleton is in on the newest social platform, Snapchat.

The Queen of Wimbledon was honoured to meet the Duchess of Cambridge, and took a selfie video to prove it. After watching Serena Williams win in straight sets in the fastest Wimbledon semifinal on record, Kate met with the queen of tennis. She also pulled Sophie, Countess of Wessex into the picture.

”I’m in the in crowd now,” Serena says as she pans over to Kate, and is seen to be joined by Sophie, Countess of Wessex. “I’m with royalty.” This isn’t the first time that Serena has had a brush with royalty. The American athlete met Prince William backstage at the 2010 Australian Open and later that year greeted the Queen when she dropped by the All England Club to meet with players competing in the iconic British tournament.

The Duchess is a keen tennis fan and it has been reported that she may be announced as patron of the All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club when the Queen takes a step back following 64 years as patron. Apparently, little Prince George is already a fan of the game. During a tour of the All England Lawn Tennis Club on ladies semi-finals day, the Duchess told former British number one Greg Rusedski that George has already taken an interest in the game, despite being just two years old.

What do you think of this cute selfie?
