Treasurer Scott Morrison unleashed on 2GB radio host Ray Hadley over the performance of politicians but did not manage to get out of the interview without getting “schooled” by the outspoken radio host alleging federal politics is populated by “bludgers and leaners”.

In the heated interview, Mr Morrison said Mr Hadley was hurling misleading slurs and taking cheap shots, insisting the 27 sitting days of Parliament left in 2016 was not a sufficient indicator of all the work MPs do.

Hadley said Mr Morrison was “defending the indefensible”, reports SMH.

Hadley said, “You might work every single day but I’m sure the bludgers and leaners inside the federal Parliament who are delighted to go home every Thursday, have a long weekend, then come back on Sunday night or Monday morning.”

Mr Morrison continued to defend himself and his parliamentary colleagues, saying they work in their electorates and on legislation throughout the week, often clocking up 60 to 70 hours.

The interview took a turn for the worse when the Treasurer compared politicians’ less prominent work with the preparation he does when not on air.

“The Parliament will sit as often as necessary to pass the legislation,” Mr Morrison assured.

“Well, you’ve got plenty of spare time to do that!” Hadley sent back.

“Well, again, Ray. I think that’s a bit cheap, mate. You know plenty of politicians and you know they work hard and we do work hard, just like when you’re off air…you don’t work just the three hours you’re on air all day. Outside of those three hours, you work really hard.”

Hadley replied: “Listen, don’t drag me into it. I’m not paid by the public, you are! Don’t drag me into it. I get paid by how successful I am and I’ve been successful over a long period of time.”

“You have,” Mr Morrison backed down.

“So don’t try and compare me with you. I was here at four o’clock this morning, I’ll finish at about half past six tonight, for your information,” the radio host replied.

“We all work hard, Ray,” Mr Morrison then said.

Did Morrison deserve that on radio?

Yes. Look the Gov are emplyed by the people of Australia yet the rob us blind. That is the only thing they do well .They give themselves big salaries and we remain the same snd yet we are the employers. If a employer does not preform or gets caught stealing they are dismissed yet our employees continue to do it they fly here complements of tax payer do not declare assets yet pensioners get asset tested and pensions reduced based on the outcome. So why isnt each individual caught doing these unjust crimes sacked how many homes or investment properties do these people have and not declared them travel expenses and lots more.We vote these people in to rob us blind get rich while we sit back and allow this corruption to continue

Would love to see result not just discussion on reducing debt. It will eventually bite there bum though they will be out of office on there pension.
The real workers that are actually produce productivity are there to pay again.

  4. David Charlton

That and a whole lot more… to say that they do a lot of work is crap … why do they need so many staff for then… if they were paid on the same scale as the rest of us… this country would have no debt… and why do they always have to try blaming someone else when they’re caught out…. this is where we should demand more accountability from the bastards…

  5. Robert McAuley

Yes..He actually deserved to get ridiculed for the pathetic job he has done. The deficit is worse than when Labor were in power yet they were all over them and complaining. Joe Hockey was even worse and even when given his marching orders he still tried to hang on til the bitter end.

  6. Ian Graham

Yes he led with his chin and got sat on his backside. Morrison has clearly been promoted beyond his level of competence and should let someone with some economic credentials and more going for them than a big mouth take charge of treasury.

  7. John Coombes

Yes! He forgets about, not only his and the other pay rise these two face bludger have accepted but also the superannuation benefits that he and every other pollie have.

A super scheme that would send the country broke if it was made available to everyone. Get down off your high horse Morrison and understand you ARE favoured and there will come a time you will wish your nose wasn’t in the trough.

  8. Rob

History will record how incompetent these parasites really are. They are elected to represent the people of Australia. They only do the bidding of their party, the unelected back room self centred , greedy fat cats. It’s about time they worked together for OUR interests. None of them are worth voting for!
