At some point in our lives we’re probably heard or read some gossip about ourselves.

But how many of us actually said something about it? Or called it out for what it was?

Well, Sunrise co-host Sam Armytage has done exactly that to one of the gossip magazines!

After being the target of a Daily Mail article about the choice of her underwear, Armytage is now the focus of an article in Woman’s Day that claims she is feuding with her workmates and “packing her bags”.

She took to Instagram to slam Woman’s Day – describing it as “silly”, “trash”, “idiotic”, “mindless” and “bullshit”.

“What? The Hewitts aren’t getting divorced for the 5-millionth time this week?,” Armytage wrote.

“Kate Middleton isn’t expecting her 12-thousandth baby?

“So, it must be Sunrise feud to take up several page during the quiet-January period.”

No doubt many of you will agree with what she has written, and she has a message for the women of Australia.

“Sensible women of Australia, I bet of you NOT to part with $4.99 for this tripe,” Armytage wrote on Instagram.

“The only war I’m involved in, is trying to get Banjo into a bath!

“And I packed my bags because……. I went on holiday!”

Go Sam!

And she’s not the only one to slam Woman’s Day.

Her fellow Sunrise co-host David ‘Kochie’ Koch also slammed Woman’s Day on social media for the article.

“Woman’s Day… total and utter fabrication. Fake news at its worst. Can I be any clearer?,” he wrote on Facebook.

“Thanks to the loyalty of our viewers Sunrise has been Australia’s #1 breakfast program for 13 consecutive years… because it’s a team effort. It’s an honour to be part of it. I honestly love working with them all.”

There’s been a string of celebrities over the past year who have hit back at the gossip magazines for the stories they write.

From Prince Harry, who told the media to stop harassing his girlfriend Meghan Markle to Jennifer Anniston’s powerful piece in the Huffington Post, some of our most beloved famous faces are fighting back.

What do you think about Sam Armytage’s comments? Would you do the same if you were in her position?

  1. Mary

Go Sam Kochie and Eddie love your show and the personalities on it. I only look at these magazines when im at the hairdressers and cannot believe the rubbish they print. Id be embarressed to call myself a journo working for these magazines. Keep on going we are with you chin up and best foot forward hope you enjoyed your holiday and keep on keeping on. Regards

  2. Jenny Clarke

Have stopped buying these trashy magazines ages ago, because they were so unbelievable. How dare they treat the public with such contempt and expect us to believe their small minded trash. They deserve to fold up….and will if they continue with their ways. Good on you Sam Armytage for standing up and refusing to take their nonsense. The media in this country has a lot to be ashamed for, including this bullying.

  3. Trish Bolton

Totally agree, utter rubbish, you would see these dramatic headlines and buy mag to find it’s all lies, money under false pretenses, I stopped buy these mags around 10 years ago for the reasons that they are thieves and liars.

  4. Faye Paull

I think it is really sad that our magazines have resorted to all this crap. They were so revered in the past. Many years since I have bought one. I check out the headlines on the front cover as I wait in line at the checkout and have a good laugh,

  5. Cheryl

Good on you Sam & Kochie. I stopped reading them years ago when they kept writing ‘a source’ told them. What a lot of crap. They think we are stupid.

  6. Marion waller

People need to stop buying these magazines, then hopefully they will stop the crap.

  7. Patti

These mags are an insult to our intelligence!! Would rather give the $4.99 to charity 🤑

  8. Chris

Good on you Sam,I for one wont be buying these mags any more.

  9. Doug

I think David Koch needs to be sent on a permanent holiday , it was such a pleasant show with all his fill ins Usher, Okeef etc. Kochie lacks personality, manners etc he is utterly rude to most people he interviews.
Also I wish he wouldn’t wear that mask, oh sorry it’s not a mask. Last time I saw those glasses and a nose that big it was a mask.
Bring back an all girl panel, except for Sam on the weather, he’s good. Love Nat, Eddie and Sam A.

  10. I haven’t bought these magazines for a long time they are just rubbish and full of lies I think Sam is right calling them out but I can’t understand how they get away with it I sent them an msg about the rubbish but never got a reply

  11. Go Sam, very proud of you, you are an inspiration to women everywhere. It is time these magazines got it right, so much rubbish is printed about celebrities every week. They either have to start reporting the truth, or close their doors. All they are giving the public is trash news and a whole bunch of lies. They ar all as bad as each other, and I agree with what Sam has done, I have always said she tells it like it is and doesn’t suffer idiots. This is why I like her so much. Stay with us Sam, love watching you on Sunrise, it’s not the same when you are away., even though the other girls are great too.

These magazines are an insult to our intelligence! Full of lies and utter dribble. Why do people still buy such rubbish? I do miss being able to buy a magazine with truthful and genuine articles. At least Women’s Weekly is still ok – except for all the ads.
