Sad news for Jefferson Airplane fans…

They created one of the most memorable sounds of the 60s and their song White Rabbit has been included in numerous soundtracks, including Platoon, but today the members of Jefferson Airplane are grieving the loss of their founding member and guitarist Paul Kantner.

Kantner was 74 at the time of his death, which was caused organ failure following a heart attack, People reports.

The bank was formed in a folk bar in San Fransisco and went on to perform at Woodstock, with the songs “White Rabbit” and “Somebody to Love” the biggest hits, both named in the Rolling Stones 500 greatest songs of all times. Kantner was also the founder of the spinoff band, Jefferson Starship.
