The Queen celebrated her 91st birthday yesterday.

The Queen celebrated her 91st birthday yesterday doing one of the things she loves.

Heading to Newbury Racecourse for a modest celebration in royal standards, she watched her horse Maths Prize race.

There were no winnings to celebrate after it came fifth but there were plenty of celebrations still to be had for Britain’s longest-reigning monarch, and she looked very happy, not to mention stylish in a textured coat with pink detailing.

To mark the occasion there was a 41-gun salute in Hyde Park,  a 21-gun salute in Windsor Great Park and a 62-gun salute at the Tower of London.

Children were involved in the fun, taking part in a military salute with mini cannons.

The royal family celebrated her birthday in a social media way, posting messages with the hashtags #HappyBirthdayHerMajesty #Queenat91 and #QueensBirthday while posting pictures and messages.

Princess Elizabeth Alexandra Mary was born at 2.40am on 21 April 1926, the first child of the then Duke and Duchess of York, at 17 Bruton Street, the Mayfair home of her grandparents, the Earl and Countess of Strathmore.

What message would you send to the Queen for her birthday?
