Prince William and family change holiday tradition

The Queen is no doubt preparing for her annual address, her table on the big day will be a bit smaller this year as William and Kate will be spending a private Christmas with Kate’s family.

It is traditional for the Royal Family to be together at the Queen’s home in Sandringham but this year William, Kate, Prince George, and Princess Charlotte will be having a “low-key” Christmas at the Middleton’s £4.7million estate in Berkshire.

They will however not miss all the traditions as the family will join The Royal Family at the Queen’s Norfolk estate for the traditional Boxing Day pheasant shoot with Prince Phillip. While a lot of the press want to take this as a “swipe” or “disrespect” to the Queen it neither.  Kate has said in a number of interviews how close she is with her family and how much she wants her parents in her children’s lives.  With so much of their lives being focused around The Queen this is a great time to spend with her side of the family.

A source close to The Queen told The Daily Mail, “Her Majesty understands that it is a dilemma that many young couples face and acknowledges how close Catherine’s relationship is with her family. Indeed, that is why she has long included Mr and Mrs Middleton in family events. She thinks they have conducted themselves impeccably and with enormous dignity over the years.”

Kate will also be spending a lot of time with her sister Pippa as Pippa prepares to marry in the new year to her partner James Matthews.
