President Trump: We have to start winning wars again

US president Donald Trump discusses winning wars.

America is set to see a historic increase in defence spending after President Donald Trump announced proposed increases in the budget.

That increase is a whopping $54 billion.

President Trump has made it clear that winning wars is back on the agenda for the US.

“We must ensure that our courageous service men and women have the tools they need to deter war, and when called upon to fight in our name only do one thing, win,” Trump said.

“We have to win. We have to start winning wars again.”

Recalling back in his younger days he said America never lost a war, and said now they don’t win.

“We’ve got to win or don’t fight at all.”

While the decision is obviously to win, given the money being spent, at the same time other federal agencies will lose funding, and foreign aid will see significant reductions.

Full budget negotiations between Trump and Congress will not be complete for many months but a in a statement at the White House on Monday morning, Trump said his budget would put “America first” by focusing on defence, law enforcement and veterans using money previously spent abroad.

“We are going to do more with less and make the government lean and accountable to the people,” Trump said.

“We can do so much more with the money we spend.”

Trump said that budget, to be submitted to Congress next month, would also support law enforcement in an effort to reduce crime.

He also said the country faces an urgent infrastructure problem, that he promised in the presidential campaign to address with a $1 trillion infrastructure spending plan.

“We’re going to make it easier for states to invest in infrastructure,” Trump said.

“We spent $6 trillion in the Middle East, and we have potholes all over our highways and our roads.”

“Infrastructure, we’re going to start spending on infrastructure — big,”
