Post-mortem into cause of George Michael’s death baffles authorities

It seems more tests are needed to determine the exact cause of singer George Michael’s death after the initial post-mortem examination carried out proved ‘inconclusive’.

Fifty-three-year-old Michael was found dead in his bed by his partner, Fadi Fawaz, on December 25.

The Thames Valley Police carried out the post-mortem said in a statement: “The cause of death is inconclusive and further tests will now be carried out. The results of these tests are unlikely to be known for several weeks. Thames Valley Police will prepare a file for the Oxfordshire Coroner.”

While Michael’s death is yet to be explained, police have confirmed that it is not “suspicious”.

George Michael’s long-time manager, Michael Lippman, had previously revealed that the singer had died of heart failure.

Since his death, there have been several tributes from fellow music artists, including from long-time friend Sir Elton John and Coldplay’s Chris Martin.

Sir Elton opened his Las Vegas concert on December 28 with ‘Don’t Let the Sun Go Down On Me’, which he and Michael performed together in 1992, and he told the crowd that he wished Michael was there to sing the song with him.

While Chris Martin performed the Wham! hit from 1986 ‘Last Christmas’ at a homeless shelter.

It is also thought that a number of stars are looking to get together for a tribute concert in honour of the singer, and with more than four decades of hits there would certainly be plenty of material for them to choose from.
