Please help find this missing 5-year-old girl

A 5-year-old girl has gone missing since 4.30pm, Sunday afternoon after she ran away from family members near the Nielsen Road overpass.

Now, 120 police and State Emergency Service personnel are scouring an area west of the M1 at Nerang searching for her.

The girl is described as Caucasian, 115cm tall, with blonde shoulder-length hair and blue eyes.

Acting Inspector Laurie Shevlin said she had a medical condition, which meant she was unlikely to respond in the expected manner to anyone who finds her.

According to reports, she was last seen wearing a dark pink T-shirt with a ladybird emblem on the front, dark blue denim shorts and no shoes.

Police said this was the primary search area but residents in surrounding areas were urged to check the yards of their homes and be vigilant for any sign of the girl.

The search includes members of the Gold Coast Rapid Action Patrol, plain clothes officers and the Pol-Air helicopter, reports Brisbane Times.
