As you might have read over the weekend, Aussie author Mem Fox recounted a harrowing experience she had with US immigration.

Now, details of another famous face having issues with US immigration have come to light.

As the ABC reports, a family friend of Muhammad Ali’s son – Muhammed Ali Jr – has revealed an experience the son of the famous boxer faced at a US airport earlier this month.

Apparently, Muhammad Ali Jr and his mother Khalilah Camacho Ali were separated and questioned at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport on February 7.

While Ms Ali was reportedly released after showing immigration officials a photo of her famous ex-husband, her son was detained and questioned further about his religion.

“From the way they were treated, from what was said to them, they can come up with no other rational explanation except they fell into a profiling program run by customs, which is designed to obtain information from anyone who says they’re a Muslim,” family friend Chris Mancini told AP.

“It’s quite clear that what triggered his detention was his Arabic name and his religion.”

Meanwhile, Aussie author Mem Fox says she may never return to the US after she was detained and questioned and left sobbing by immigration officials earlier this month.

What do you think about these revelations? Do they make you concerned about travel to the US?
