Financial Services Minister Kelly O’Dwyer is just over a week into her maternity leave and there are rumblings around trying to outs her from her post.
It is being reported, that a number of branches withing O’Dwyer’s electorate have organised to meet knowing that O’Dwyer will not be able to attend.
One senior Liberal who asked not to be named told The Sydney Morning Herald, “I don’t think anyone thinks it’s fair that this report [on the challenge] has come just eight days after Kelly went on maternity leave. That’s not a good look at all. The fact is there are some internal issues in Higgins that need addressing.”
The Syndey Morning Herald also claims that Tony Abbott’s former chief-of-staff Peta Credlin is being groomed for the role. The new outlet also reached out to O’Dwyer for comment and a spokesperson told that she is “on maternity leave with an eight-day-old son and is not commenting on this story”.
