Former First Lady Michelle Obama has posted a powerful image of herself on social media to highlight a contentious issue around the world.
In the photo, which was taken when her husband was still in office, Michelle is seen with an anonymous white woman with signs reading WHITE and COLOURED hanging over their heads.
Michelle posted the photo in honour of the historic Supreme Court decision on Brown vs Board of Education, which ruled it was illegal for state schools to segregate students based on colour.
She shared a message with the photo, saying: “Remembering those who have made possible the dreams of today. Will never forget. Will never stop honoring their legacy.”

The image has already garnered thousands of likes and comments.
While both Michelle and Barack have remained mostly quiet since leaving the White House, they are still using their platform to address the key issues close to their hearts.
Just last month, the former president broke with protocol and released a comment through his spokesperson on president Donald Trump’s immigration ban, saying: “With regard to comparisons to President Obama’s foreign policy decisions, as we’ve heard before, the President fundamentally disagrees with the notion of discriminating against individuals because of their faith or religion.”
