London terror attack claims fourth victim

A 75-year-old man has died from injuries sustained in the terror attack on Westminster, taking the death toll to four.

The man was taken to hospital after the attack but his life support was withdrawn this morning, the Metropolitan Police said. He has not yet been named.

US tourist Kurt Cochran, Aysha Frade and police officer Keith Palmer were also killed in the attack by Khalid Masood, the British-born man named by police as the perpetrator. Masood was shot dead by police during the attack.

Palmer died at the scene after he was stabbed by Masood as the terrorist attempted to force his way into the Houses of Parliament in the centre of London. According to the BBC, Palmer had a five-year-old daughter and had served as a police officer for 15 years.

The BBC reported that Cochran was on a tour of Europe with his wife to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary when he was killed as Masood ploughed a car through pedestrians walking on Westminster Bridge. His wife Melissa was seriously injured in the attack.

Frade, who worked at the nearby DLD College London, was reportedly on her way to pick up her daughters from school when he was killed.

A Romanian tourist, Andreea Cristea, was identified as the woman who was filmed falling into the Thames as the attacker drove cross the bridge. She is hositpialised with multiple injuries, the BBC reported.

Londoners created a memorial to the victims at Westminster and gathered in other parts of London to mourn them overnight, as well as responding to the attack by refusing to be cowed.
