Just when you thought we had left the US election back in 2016, it comes back to haunt us again in the headlines.

Remember back during the US election campaign when WikiLeaks released emails relating to Hillary Clinton?

Well, if you’ve been watching the news lately you’ll know US President Barack Obama and the FBI have pointed the finger at Russia, saying the Russians tried to interfere with the election result.

But there’s one person who is certain that’s no the case, and it’s not Donald Trump.

It’s WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange.

Assange has sat down for an interview with Fox News, addressing the accusations that the Russians hacked the emails during the election campaign.

He said he was “a thousand percent” confident that the Russian Government wasn’t to blame.

“We can say, we have said, repeatedly that over the last two months that our source is not the Russian government and it is not a state party,” he said.

“Our publications had wide uptake by the American people, they’re all true. But that’s not the allegation that’s being presented by the Obama White House.”

The WikiLeaks founder also takes a swipe at Obama, accusing him of trying to ‘delegitimise’ Trump’s presidency.

“So, why such a dramatic response? Well, the reason is obvious. They’re trying to delegitimise the Trump administration as it goes into the White House.

‘They are trying to say that President-elect Trump is not a legitimate President.”

Meanwhile, it looks like WikiLeaks has big plans for 2017.

The site’s Twitter account posted an ominous message for the year.

“If you thought 2016 was a big WikiLeaks year 2017 will blow you away. Help us prepare for the showdown.”

So, what do you think about this whole debacle? Do you trust Julian Assange?

  1. Ian

Yes there is so much against him, that a lot of it must be true because the truth has to be hidden it hurts the elite

  2. Tom Courtney

Will be watching the Hannity interview with interest.

  3. Greg Hills

Well, well, well. Julian Assange shows his true colours. Just another Far Right Conservative after all.
Why doesn’t he disclose the sources where the leaks came from and put the issue to bed then!
Why? Because he will incriminate himself, that’s why!

    • Dee

“Why doesn’t he disclose the sources
Well obviously he can’t do that! Who would ever trust Wikileaks with their info again?
I believe him in this case.

      • Faye Dapiran

No one actually trusts Wikleaks with their information, they ‘acquire’ it, and then use it. It is a fairly secret organisation, and Assange himself has stated that they do not read all the information and leaks they receive, and publish – therefore not really proving that it is true, and the people organisations who leak this information may have their own agenda. It has released some potentially dangerous information, that could have put people and organisations in danger. Assange has said he like and admires Putin, and Donald Trump. Which is a worry, especially Putin.

    • Joan Marshall

Julian Assange is NOT a Far Right Conservative he simply gave the American people and the world hope by exposing Hillary Clinton for the FRAUD she is. Why should he tell where he got his information from and put people at risk of perhaps loosing their lives. There has been too much FRAUD from Hillary Bubba Bill and their cohorts for too long. Julian Assange is a HERO and the quicker people realise it the better.

      • Faye Dapiran

It doesn’t seem to bother him if he puts some people at risk, which he has done. He has stated this himself. I used to think he might have been a hero, but not these days. If he is such a hero,k why has he been holed up in an embassy in London for so long, and putting them at risk. I think he might be self interested. He is hardly a radical, and sadly he appears to be coming more right wing as time goes along.

  4. Faye Dapiran

I used to support Assange in some way, but I think he is just a far right person these days, with his support of Putin and now of Hannity [who is Trumps besty] and Fox News. State where it came from then, if not Russia? I don’t believe or trust Assange.

    • Dee

      “with his support of Putin”
He may not actually be supporting Putin but simply telling the truth as it is.
Exposing the truth is what Wikileaks do.

  5. Geoff McKenzie

As he once said “If I,m lying, why are they trying so hard to stop me”.I would believe what he says, over our proven lying media, any day.The New World Order are not getting their way, despite their overwhelming weight of propoganda.

  6. Donny Dark

I wouldn’t trust Putin ever. Under him, Russia is just as dangerous and without morals as it ever has been…
