Four popular car models recalled after defects found

Four car models listed in recall.

A popular brand of call has issued recalls for four different types of their vehicles this week after faults had been found.

Three of the cars have problems with the seat, while a fourth has a mechanical issue.

The cars with seat issues include the Mazda 2, Mazda 3 and Mazda 6, relating to new sales from September 4, 2007 and March 28, 2012.

The recalls states that on the driver’s seat of the affected vehicles, it is possible that the Seat Height Adjustment Lifter Link may crack, or the Lifter Link Retaining Nuts may separate.

The seat may exhibit an abnormal noise or rattling.

In the worst case, the Lifter Link may break or separate from the seat frame, causing the seat to move out of position.

A second recall was issued relating to the Mazda BT50, specifically automatic models sold from October 31, 2011 to December 3, 2012.

The recalls says there is a possibility that an intermittent Output Shaft Speed Sensor failure may result in an unintended downshift into first gear.

If the failure occurs while the vehicle is in use, it could cause an abrupt wheel speed reduction.

This may cause the rear tyres to slide or lock up until the vehicle speed slows, which could result in a loss of vehicle control.

Customers will be advised to present their vehicle to their preferred Mazda Dealer for inspection and repair at no charge.

Although Mazda will contact all affected owners by mail anyone who has not been advised and feels they have one of the vehicles affected, can contact Mazda Australia for further advice.
