Elvis was regarded as one of the finest men of his time.

It’s no secret that Elvis was popular with the ladies throughout his career, but it turns out not every women wanted a chance with him.

Popular 1970s singer Petula Clark has revealed that Elvis once propositioned her and her good friend Karen Carpenter, from The Carpenters, with a very saucy idea.

Speaking about one of her only encounters with the legendary singer, Petula said both she and Karen were left gobsmacked when they realised what Elvis wanted from them.

“I think he wanted to be more than friends. Well, I know he did,” she said, reports The Sun.

She went on to claim he wanted the three of them to spend the night all together, but they quickly turned him down.

“It was flattering but I shuffled out, dragging Karen behind me, saying we had other things to do.

“As we were leaving, Elvis turned around and was smiling as if to say, ‘I’ll get you one day.’ But he never did. Thank heavens!”

No doubt it was one of the few times a woman turned him down, with most women in the day dying to get their hands of the ‘hunk of burning love’!

“’He was very amused by that,” Petula said. “It was probably the first time anyone had ever turned him down.”

Well, well… Who knew Elvis was so cheeky!

Are you a fan of Elvis? When did you first start listening to his music?

Have been an Elvis fan all my life. He was absolutely unique & there has never been anyone before, or will ever, be the ‘whole package’. An absolutely extraordinary talent. Pity his life was cut so short; hopefully, he was happy when alive.

    • Robin Allyn Presley

Elvis may not be as unique as you and millions believe. Elvis’s father was Vernon Presley. Vernon had an identical twin brother Vestor, who also had children in Oregon. That’s where I came from. Vestor and Marie Presley. Check it out. Thank you very much.

Took a lot of years to remember that!!

    • Mia Van Der Stam

Very good point- and he cant defend himself

      • Mauna Kea

Exactly, and what woman in their right mind would turn him down!!!! LOL!!!

  3. elfa lerae

He was a cheeky little thing. But could he sing. No wonder he is loved to this day.

  4. Kenneth W. Hopgood

I have been a Elvis Fan since February 1956 when Heartbreak Hotel was released in Australia.

  5. Bruce Taylor

It is funny how many people remember things years after a person has passed away and has no opportunity to confirm or deny what is said.

    • Ivy

      Wishful thinking on her part?

      • Margaret freeburn

I agree, it’s a bit long ago now to be raking up scandal!!

    • What woman in their right mind would turn down Elivs Preseley!!! LOL!!! Maybe she dreamnt it!!!

84 y.o. Petula re-writing history? Even if it was true, it wouldn’t have worked out well because Petula was already married with children when she met Elvis and as is well-documented, Elvis would not sleep with a woman who had given birth. As for Karen Carpenter, she was anorexic and weighed under 30kg. It all beggars belief really but it got Petula back into the headlines for 5 minutes.

    • I could still see Elvis asking them; either to see if he could literally get any girl he wants, or just to know what it’s like to have a threesome with a prudish mother and an anorexic. Actually Mary Tyler Moore was the one who turned him down and didn’t wait 50 years to say so.

Elvis had something special. It is a pity fame goes to people’s heads when they say and do stupid things but they do. Elvis was also bad tempered. Fancy shooting his car but he did. As for a lewd act with Petula Clark only she knows if it is true. He may have been joking after all he could have had any woman he wanted. What a shame he went in to drugs because I saw one act of his where was writhing on the floor incoherent and simply out of it that many people were disgusted. In his latter years his voice had matured and he sang some lovely songs. I particularly liked “Blue Christmas” and “I’ll Be Home For Christmas” and he is to be admired that he did America proud in the army. He was also a very God fearing man I admired that. He was also a dutiful loving son to his parents that too has to be admired.+

I think with a lot of these women in hindsight it was all wishful thinking when you look at the beautiful women that Elvis had around him all the time.
As was mentioned above, why bring it up after he is dead, I think it’s self flattery and trying to make headlines knowing nothing can be denied.

  9. Steven

what took her so long to tell this? It’s garbage is why

    • Susan Arseneault

It took her all this time cause he can’t say if its happened

  10. Debbie

I find it very irritating and disgusting when people speak bad or negative of the dead. Very poor in taste. The other person is not here to confirm or deny what has been said, nor to protect their good name. If you’ve kept a story or event to yourself all these years or decades, you should, in fact, keep it to yourself permanently.

    • Loubie

What Debbie said, Elvis is not here and that is why she is able to say it and is a way to get her name back out in the news. I’ve a Elvis fan for over 5 decade and at this point I would still say it’s her wishful thinking!

  11. Ellen

I’ve been a Elvis as long as I can remember. He had a beautiful voice,a strong voice. He had such a great personality. Some people at certain times of my life thought it was weird I loved his music so much.I didn’t care. I wish he were still alive. My grandson tells all his friends I like his music.
