This morning Queensland residents woke to find out Cyclone Debbie was now expected to cross landfall between Ayr and Midge Point.
The category 4 cyclone, while still off the Queensland coast, has a core 100 kilometres wide
Hamilton Island was already recording a 190km/h wind gust this morning while authorities were saying they expect conditions to worsen over the next couple of hours and make landfall late this morning.
They have still not ruled out the possibility it will make a category 5.

Already thousands of people have been ordered to evacuate due to the expected high winds, flooding rain and a tidal surge.
There has been a few lighthearted jokes in reference to the cyclones name.

The BOM receives a lot of requests from the public to have Tropical Cyclones named after themselves; with requests far out-numbering cyclones.
While the say you can send your request in writing and it may be added to a supplementary list, it could we well over 50 years before the requested name is allocated, due to the process and number of names already on the list.
