Repair shop shows true beauty in career options

Does this look anything like your usual mechanic?

There is nothing strange in going to get a manicure or pedicure while you get your car serviced.

It’s just not that common to find you can get it done all at the same shop.

Girls Auto Clinic in the US offers these services and more while you wait for your car at their Clutch Beauty Bar.

Founder of Girls Auto Clinic Patrice Banks has won acclaim for defying stereotypes.

Appearing on a local television program Patrice said she knew she first knew she needed to learn to be a mechanic as she was an “auto airhead”.

“We are not here to prove anything to men,”

“We are here to inspire women, educate woma and to empower women.”

She also wanted to have a business that would support women who worked in the industry.

Now she not only callers herself a #sheCANic, she hires them too.

Footage on their Facebook page shows female mechanics at work, and even wearing skinny jeans and high heels.

Recently the company was awarded first prize in the Miller Lite Tap The Future competition for Philadelphia.

Patrice has even gone on to write a book titled Girls Auto Clinic Glove Box Guide,

During March they are advertising 20 percent off some of their services, to help put the brakes on the gender pay gap.

Would you support a business like this if it was in Australia?
