Is a second season in store for Big Little Lies?

If season two goes ahead the next question will be if the cast will all return.

This is not a big little lie, it’s exciting news of a second season.

The Sydney Morning Herald has reported that Australian author Liane Moriarty (pictured below) says she’s developing ideas for the second season of the TV adaptation of her novel Big Little Lies that screened recently on Foxtel, with the finale creating shockwaves.

Actor-producer Reese Witherspoon, had already been asking fans to lobby Moriarty on Facebook for a second season.

The sequel will focus on Bonnie’s untold story, played by Zoe Kravitz, the daughter of musician Lenny Kravitz and actress Lisa Bonet.

Even better news is the sequel will also follow Nicole Kidman’s character Celeste, and her grief.

When asked what happens next for Celeste, Moriarty said that was a really interesting question.  “When you’ve been through a relationship like that, how do you feel now?” Liane Moriarty said. “How would she feel? She’s grieving. She’s still grieving for the end of a terrible relationship and I think that would be a really interesting thing to explore.”

Nicole Kidman has been given great accolades for her portrayal of a woman experiencing domestic abuse.

TV Guide in the US even went as far as saying she was spectacular and deserved an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Miniseries.

Big Little Lies is the first of Moriarty’s books to be adapted for screen. Her other books include Three Wishes, Truly Madly Guilty and What Alice Forgot.

The author says she’s been thrilled with the reaction to the show, which is “more faithful that I expected it to be”.
