Alan Joyce cops pie in the face on stage

Qantas CEO Alan Joyce has had a pie smashed into his face while speaking on stage at a business event in Perth.

Video captured the moment a man calmly walks up behind Joyce before slamming the pie — thought to be lemon meringue — into his face, leaving Joyce and the audience shocked.

The incident happened at Perth’s up-market Hyatt Regency hotel in front of 500 people attending the Leadership Matters event this morning.

Security quickly pounced on the man and removed him from the room, reports Yahoo News.

Witnesses say Joyce left the stage almost immediately, but soon returned without his jacket and his face wiped cleaned.

Police have confirmed they were called to a security issue at the event, but have not confirmed whether the man will be charged.

Qantas posted a 25 per cent profit slide in February, struggling with increases competition and redundancies across the business.
