Australia’s new $10 note has been revealed.
The blue-toned notes, featuring pictures of Dame Mary Gilmore and Banjo Patterson, will be released in September, although it may take some time for them to be in wide circulation.
As well as the portraits of beloved poet Patterson and journalist and social campaigner Gilmore, the notes show a pen nib to symbolise their work, as well as examples of their poetry in microprint.
The notes also feature the sulphur-crested cockatoo and different species of Australian wattle.
The Reserve Bank of Australia, which unveiled the new design today, said new security features had also been worked into the notes, similar to those on $5 notes released last year.
