It may be an award show to celebrate the best of Australian television entertainment, but the Logies are also a chance to view the finest – and not so fine – examples of local design.

Female TV stars are always at their primed-and-preened best at the Logies, and last night was no exception, with some beautiful dresses on display. Actress Penny McNamee, a stage veteran who’s also had a long-running role on Home and Away, undoubtedly had one of the biggest skirts of the night.

But Olympia Valance from Neighbours gave her a run for her money, as did The Project’s Gorgi Coghlan, pictured below with co-host Anthony Lehmann.

Sleek and glittering was also a popular look last night, with Dannii Minogue shining in a dress that was split to the thigh, while Rebecca Judd went for leg exposure via a pink transparent skirt, with pink lace overlaying her red bodice.

Actress Jessica Marais was heavily embellished, as was Sunrise presenter Edwina Barr and former TV presenter Kerri-Anne Kennerley.  Singer Casey Donovan chose always-flattering black, as did Asher Keddy, pictured with her partner Vincent Fantauzzo.

Today reporter Sylvia Jefferys split fashion commentators, with some loving her dusty-rose-coloured dress with fluted panels, and others comparing it unflatteringly to a part of the female anatomy. Songstress Delta Goodrem looked slick in a skintight burnt-orange gown, while Sunrise presenter Samantha Armytage looked classy in royal blue.

The Project’s Carrie Bickmore braved the cool weather with an exposed stomach, while Today host Lisa Wilkinson covered up in an embellished, black gown.
