Why you should always take the shower cap from your hotel room

Jun 05, 2017

There’s a bit of a heated debate surrounding whether or not guests should take the toiletries and other free items from hotel rooms, especially if they plan to use them once they leave the hotel.

“They are meant for use while you are staying in the hotel, not to take home,” says Travel at 60 reader Fred.

“I generally take my own toiletries and do not touch the hotels. Taking them is stealing, would you take the towels, bathrobes and anything else that’s not bolted down?”

But if you are going to take items from your hotel room, then you might has well put them to good use. And using your shower cap is a good place to start.

If you’ve ever packed a suitcase after a holiday and are worried about your dirty items mixing with your clean clothes, then it might just be time to sneak your shower cap from your hotel room.

All you have to do is take your shower cap and wrap it around your shoes, that way you won’t have to worry about your filthy shoes getting dirt all over your clothing.

And for those of you who are a bit concerned about taking the shower caps from the hotel room, as long as you are using the item it’s not considered stealing, so there’s no need to worry about that.

And, at the end of the day, the hotel or hostel staff really just want to make your stay with them as enjoyable as possible, so if that including using one of the products that they’ve provided for you to use, so be it.
