Visit the small town that inspired Beauty and the Beast

Jun 05, 2017

It’s a classic love story. Girl meets beast, beast wants to be a lonely recluse, girl tries to change beast, girl succeeds and all live happily ever after.

That is the basic theme of the film but the Disney classic has received a makeover with the likes of Emma Watson starring in the family favourite.

Remade with the assistance of four-time Oscar nominated production designer Sarah Greenwood, she admitted that there was a lot of pressure to do the animated film justice.

Keen to bring a sense of reality to the film, the French village where Belle and her father live, a 28,000 square feet village was created and based on a variety of European villages including Conques in the South of France.

Whereas the fountain that appears in the film is also based on St. George’s Fountain in Germany. Take a look at the photos of this gorgeous town in the gallery below.
